Kraken Exchange Review: Pros, Cons, and Fees

Kraken does not get the hype that Coinbase or Binance gets. But among serious traders, it has a loyal following. Here is why.

The Pros

Security. Kraken has never been hacked. In an industry where exchanges get compromised regularly, that track record speaks volumes. They store 95% of funds in air-gapped cold storage.

Fees. Maker fees start at 0.16%. Taker fees at 0.26%. That is significantly cheaper than Coinbase's basic app and competitive with Binance.

Fiat support. Kraken supports bank deposits and withdrawals in multiple currencies. USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, and more. Getting money in and out is straightforward.

The Cons

Interface. Not as polished as Coinbase. Not as feature-rich as Binance. The mobile app works but it does not feel premium.

Coin selection. Fewer tokens listed compared to Binance. If you want to trade obscure altcoins, Kraken might not have them.

Who Is It For?

Traders who prioritize security above everything else. People who want a regulated exchange with a clean track record. Those who trade major pairs like BTC/USDT and ETH/USDT and do not need access to 500 different meme coins.
